Harun

Harun Tulunay, originally from Turkey, is a prominent HIV and sexual health activist. After experiencing anti-LGBT+ hostility and discrimination, he relocated to the United Kingdom in 2015. Diagnosed with HIV in 2016, Harun dedicated himself to promoting sexual and mental health awareness.

Harun develops and delivers educational programs to various communities as a skilled trainer, focusing on HIV and STI awareness. His influence extends internationally, demonstrated by his role on the International AIDS Society Global Village Organisation Committee. Additionally, he volunteers with several charities and serves as a volunteer and programme manager for Positively UK, where he offers peer support and raises awareness about HIV and related issues.

In 2022, Harun contracted monkeypox and endured one of the most severe cases in the UK, requiring ten days of hospitalization. By publicly sharing his experience, he educated others. He combated the stigma associated with the disease, earning recognition from organizations such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations for his advocacy.

Harun actively fights against stigma and discrimination related to his HIV status, sexual orientation, and other health challenges like monkeypox. He uses social media to disseminate information in Turkish and English, striving to educate and support individuals in similar situations.
