Linda H. Scruggs, a beacon of hope and leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS, especially for women living with the virus, is a testament to resilience. Diagnosed in 1990, Linda transformed her personal journey into a mission of advocacy, education, and unwavering support. Her dedication over the decades has led to numerous significant achievements and roles.

Since she was diagnosed, Linda has used her experience as a powerful catalyst for change, empowering others. By sharing her story with unflinching honesty, she has broken down stigma and empowered countless others facing similar challenges. Her voice has been a vital force in raising awareness and fostering compassion.

As the co-founder of Ribbon – A Center of Excellence, Linda has been instrumental in providing crucial training, technical assistance, and strategic planning to public health organisations. Her work has notably enhanced the capacity and effectiveness of those addressing HIV/AIDS.

Her accomplishments are many, as she stands to be a Positive Voice in the HIV community. In 2010, she received an Honourable Mention from President Barack Obama during the release of the National AIDS Strategy for the US. In 2012, she was a plenary speaker at the International AIDS Conference. Linda has served on numerous national advisory boards and committees, including the Board Chair of the Board of Directors for the Well Project. A member of the Board of Directors for Sister Together and Reaching, Baltimore, MD, has served on the CDC/HRSA Advisory Committee on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STD Prevention and Treatment (CHAC). These roles underscore her ability to influence public health policies and practices meaningfully.

As a leader in the HIV community, Linda has played a pivotal role in shaping policy, advocacy, and leadership development for all people living with HIV. Her efforts ensure that the unique needs of PLWH are met holistically, addressing medical, social, and economic dimensions and providing reassurance for the future.

A dynamic and inspirational speaker, Linda captivates audiences with her motivational presentations. Her workshops and training sessions empower individuals and organisations to combat HIV/AIDS more effectively within their communities.
