Raif

On his 27th birthday, Raif Derrazi received a life-altering diagnosis: HIV. What could have been a moment that shattered his spirit instead became the catalyst for an incredible journey of resilience, strength, and advocacy. Overwhelmed by fears of stigma and health implications, Raif initially faced his worst nightmares. Yet, he chose not to succumb to these fears. Instead, he embraced the challenge head-on, transforming his life into a beacon of hope and empowerment for others.

Raif’s journey has not been an easy one. He has openly shared his struggles with depression and anxiety, companions that have been with him for much of his life. Through a profound commitment to self-love and acceptance, Raif has navigated these mental health challenges with grace and determination. His dedication to bodybuilding and physical fitness has been instrumental in managing his condition, providing him with both physical strength and mental fortitude.

Beyond his battles, Raif has emerged as a passionate advocate for the HIV-positive community. His role on the community advisory board for the NIH-supported HOPE (HIV Obstruction by Programmed Epigenetics) Collaboratory and his position as a fitness expert for Plus Life underscore his commitment to this cause. Through these platforms, Raif tirelessly works to dismantle the stigma surrounding HIV. He champions the critical message of U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable), educating the public that individuals with an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV to others. This message is pivotal in changing public perceptions and reducing transmission rates.

Raif’s influence extends far beyond traditional advocacy roles. His robust social media presence allows him to share his journey with authenticity and vulnerability, encouraging others to live their lives without fear. His story is one of unyielding resilience, illustrating the transformative power of positive action and the essential role of mental and physical health in overcoming life’s challenges.

Raif Derrazi’s life and work are powerful testaments to the strength of the human spirit. His advocacy and educational efforts have had a profound impact, inspiring and empowering countless individuals. Through his tireless work, Raif is fostering a world where HIV is no longer stigmatized, and everyone can live openly, authentically, and without fear.
