Shekinah Rose

Shekinah Rose is an inspiring American-Australian trans woman and HIV advocate who has been courageously living with HIV/AIDS for over 39 years. Her extensive involvement in HIV advocacy, caregiving, and education has profoundly impacted communities worldwide. Through sharing her experiences in published stories and offering peer support and behavioural health services, Shekinah has provided invaluable assistance in Australia and internationally, reaching countries such as Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya.

Her tireless advocacy focuses on enhancing the lives of individuals living with HIV/AIDS and addressing critical issues like decriminalisation and stigma. Shekinah has contributed her expertise to numerous AIDS education and training centres, participated in webinars, conferences, and symposiums, and brought hope and knowledge to countless HIV-positive individuals. As a Policy Fellow with the Positive Women’s Network (PWN-USA), she works on influential projects like the Best Practices Guide for Providers on Language Justice, furthering her mission of support and education.

Shekinah’s journey is one of remarkable resilience and dedication. Her unwavering commitment to visibility and advocacy for trans women and those living with HIV underscores her role as a vital and active member of the community. She continues to inspire and lead with her story of hope, knowledge, and relentless advocacy.
