Pamela

Pamela Menzies-Banton is a dedicated HIV activist affiliated with Positive East in London. She coordinates the Women4Women (W4W) project, which aims to raise awareness and increase the uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among women of Black African descent. This collaborative project involves Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust.

In her role, Pamela focuses on training volunteer women from the community to become sexual and reproductive health and HIV Community Champions. These champions are crucial in identifying and addressing barriers to accessing PrEP within their communities. The initiative spans several London boroughs, including Tower Hamlets, Newham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest.

Moreover, Pamela is actively engaged in discussions and initiatives aimed at improving access to HIV prevention and management for Black women. She frequently participates in webinars and public forums to share insights and advocate for the importance of PrEP and other preventive measures.
